Global Youth Jazz Music Album
New York City funky soul-jazz combo the Sugarman 3 was formed by Daptone Records head honcho saxophonist Neal Sugarman in the spring of 1996 following his return from New Orleans where he backed artists including Eddie Henderson and Mike Longo Teaming with organist Adam Scone a onetime protege of Ben Dixon and longtime Brother Jack McDuff drummer Rudy Albin the trio -- inspired by the vintage jazz-funk sounds of the 1960s -- quickly emerged as a club favorite and with guitarist Coleman Mellett the Sugarman 3 recorded their 1998 Desco label debut Sugars Boogaloo and went on tour internationally as part of the Daptone family.

The Sugarman 3 play down home Hammond organ based funk and jazz in the tradition of Jack McDuff, Jimmy McGriff and Lonnie Smith - deep down hot barbecue style line no one else has in years! This is music for dancing and foot pattin' - original style!

Greg Boraman and The Global Youth Lyceum wish to thank Daptone Records and Neal Sugarman in particular for he and his organisations kind help and encouragement with this download commemorative album - and whom without it would not have been quite the same....and three tracks shorter!
