The 'Hip City Jukebox' is a reflection of the unending love affair he and that many, many others around world have for the all the music of the world that stems from the roots: jazz, soul, blues and funk - the four basic elements that underpin the entire basis of popular music in the 20th and 21st century. The artists black and white, young and old, new names or legendary who kindly agreed to feature a musical contribution to the Hip City Jukebox are part of a global underground scene that used to go unnoticed and uncredited by most - but continues to beat out a less travelled path that some times crosses with the mainstream. The interest in all things funky, jazzy and soulful in the current young generation reflected in Amy, Ronson, Duffy et al is just the most recent of many crossover movements or scenes of previous decades back to the 60's and beyond - the names of the pigeon holes change but the spirit never ever does.
