Since forming in June 2005 The Shake's have become an essential band to see on the ever growing live scene in Glasgow. A fine summer in 2006 was brought to a close with The Shakes been crowned 'best unsigned live act in Britain' after winning Carling's Undiscovered Live 06' at the prestigious Islington Carling Academy, hosted by Colin Murray, who has since quoted "The Shakes have definite top ten potential."
Led by Iain Gillies' distinctive gravely tones, The Shakes have drawn on many different Indie, rock, pop and ska influence's to create a unique and fresh sound. Powerful drumming linked with clever bass lines and raw, edgy guitars have won The Shakes' a strong and loyal fan base.
Continuing on from the success of 2006, 2007 saw The Shakes take their live show to a whole new level. Playing at major festivals such as Live @ Loch Lomond, The Wickerman and Feugh Festival. And supporting top acts such as Reverend and The Makers, Yeti and Tiny Dancers.
With an ever improving sound and performance level 2008 has already brought many trips to cities over Britain. Highlights of an incredible summer saw The Shakes headline and sell out arguably Britain's finest club venue, King Tuts. Then a return to Live @ Loch Lomond to play the Main Stage, and also The Wickerman Festival to play the 1800 Capacity Scooter tent. Recent weeks have also seen them play to a massive crowd at 'The Next Big Thing' held in Glasgow's Carling Academy. Combine all this with new songs like Sid's' Wall and Little Romancer is surely signs that The Shakes are one of Scotland's hottest new acts.
